Dr. Jim Coffey - Veterinarian and Owner
Dr. Jim Coffey grew up in Prairie Grove, Arkansas, and graduated from the University of Arkansas. After completing his bachelor’s, he graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2016.
Dr. Coffey is an established and highly skilled veterinarian who has experience in a range of areas including allergies, gastrointestinal diseases, respiratory diseases, surgery, reproductive health, emergency, urgent care, and many more. Dr. Coffey strives to connect with the community to help not only the pets but ultimately their owners as well. Two of Dr. Coffey’s favorite things about veterinary medicine are to see his patients leaving feeling better and their owners more at ease. Dr. Coffey is excited about continuing to know and care for the community and their furry friends!
He has an ever expanding farm of pets including, six dogs, three cats, five horses, two sheep, and a pasture full of cows. In addition to caring for pets, Dr. Coffey enjoys eating and spending free time with his friends and family
Mandy Edwards - Practice Manager
Mandy Edwards spent her early years in California and Georgia as a child but found her way home to Arkansas at the age of 14. After moving to Arkansas she discovered that her family’s roots began here before they traveled west during the Dust Bowl.
Mandy graduated from the University of Central Arkansas with a BA in Writing and Speech Communications. She has over 20 years of managerial experience spanning over several occupational fields. Her passion for animals started when she was very young with her favorite childhood memories including tea parties with her family’s Pit-Bull puppies and playing veterinarian. She has worked with animals in the past and is ecstatic to be back on the path of following her life’s calling.
Spending time with her husband watching movies, hiking, and canoeing are her favorite ways to relax. Mandy also enjoys going to brunch with her daughter, reading, gardening and playing with her family’s three adopted pets; Moon, a very fuzzy ragdoll cat, Nalu, a beautiful tan all American Pit-Bull Terrier, and Jack, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier who gives the best hugs in the business.
Dr. Gracie Calhoun - Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Gracie’s love for animals began at an early age. Growing up, she frequently brought home and cared for stray dogs and cats, despite her father’s best efforts to convince her otherwise! She also grew up riding horses and barrel racing throughout high school, experiences that sparked her lifelong passion for horses and ultimately led her to pursue a career in veterinary medicine.
Dr. Gracie attended the University of Arkansas, earning a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, Food and Life Sciences while completing the pre-veterinary curriculum. During her undergraduate studies, she met Dr. Smithers and had the opportunity to work alongside him for two years. This experience played an important role in shaping her decision to pursue veterinary medicine.
She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in May 2026. While in veterinary school, Dr. Gracie worked as a technician in the Equine Intensive Care Unit and completed numerous equine-focused externships, gaining extensive hands-on experience and further developing her passion for equine medicine.
Her veterinary education also allowed her to explore a variety of areas within the profession. She completed a two-week externship in Rooiberg, South Africa, where she was immersed in wildlife veterinary medicine and conservation efforts. She also participated in a mission trip to the Navajo Reservation in Sanders, Arizona, providing vaccinations, wellness examinations, and spay and neuter services. The experience was especially meaningful to her, providing an opportunity to serve the community while growing in her faith and building relationships through fellowship and Bible study.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Gracie enjoys spending time with her two dogs, Boon and Bean, gardening, hiking, camping, traveling, attending Cross Church, and spending quality time with friends and family.
Dr. Gracie is excited to begin this next chapter of her career and is honored to care for the animals and families in her community.
Kayte Grifin - Shift Leader
After completing a veterinary assistant program through Texas A&M, Kayte became a Certified Veterinary Assistant in 2021. She is currently working toward a degree in Animal Behavior and brings a special passion for all species—especially reptiles. With experience caring for pet chameleons and snakes, reptiles hold a unique place in her heart.
At home, Kayte shares her life with two dogs, Harley and Yoda, and a cat named Crunchwrap Supreme. When she’s not caring for animals, you can find her reading, exploring the outdoors, hiking, horseback riding, capturing moments through photography, or tending to her houseplants.
Zaelea Harris - Veterinary Assistant
Zaelea brings over four years of experience in the veterinary field. She began her career as a kennel assistant, progressed to a receptionist, and now works as a dedicated veterinary assistant. She finds great joy in bringing smiles to pet parents by healing and caring for their beloved fur babies and strives to make every animal feel their very best.
Outside of work and school, Zaelea enjoys spending time with her boyfriend, riding her two horses, and playing with her two dogs: Koe, a long-haired dapple dachshund, and Sissy, a red merle Australian Shepherd. She loves being outdoors, traveling, and has recently picked up silversmithing as a new hobby.
